Is There A Panic Button App?

Living alone can be frightening at times, especially when the thought of a break in or an emergency situation pops into your head.

That is why it is important to know and have a plan for the things that can be done in case there is an emergency or dangerous situation.

So, is there a panic button app you can use in dangerous situations?

There are quite a few panic button apps for Androids and iPhones. These apps may have varied features, but all of the panic button apps make it incredibly easy to notify your emergency contacts if needed.

With all of the advances in technology, it is easy to feel safe and close to help on an everyday basis.

Throughout this article, I’ll go over some panic button apps, other apps that every woman should have on their phone, as well as wearable panic buttons.

Emergency Apps For Smartphones

As a woman who lives alone, it’s easy to feel anxious about something bad happening and nobody else even knowing about it!

Aside from the obvious violent crime, the thought of things like gas leaks, slips or trips, or other situations can make it stressful to be alone all the time.

Thankfully, with how much technology has grown, you do not have to feel that way.

You can breathe easy knowing that you are one push of a button away from getting help anytime you need it. It all comes from the help of a panic button app on your phone.

There are several different panic button apps that are available for both Androids and iPhones.

These panic button apps come with different features, but each of them are designed to contact your loved ones, friends, or even your neighbors, depending on who you have listed as your emergency contacts in the app.

Typically, when you download the app on your phone, you’ll have to assign who you want the app to contact when you push the button.

It will also ask for other info that it can provide to emergency services, should the need arise – for example: your address, phone number, email, and additional emergency contacts.

Should you ever be in a spot where you need immediate but silent help, you just need to open the app and push the button.

This will let everyone know that you are in a dangerous situation and need help.

What Is The Best Panic Button App?

In my opinion, the best panic button app is the Red Panic Button.

The Red Panic Button App is exactly what it sounds like. Once you download the app and fill out all of the necessary information, the app will appear as widget on your phone’s lock screen.

You activate the app when you feel you need help. Because the widget is on your lock screen, you don’t even have to open the phone to send an alert – just press the widget icon

Once the panic button is hit, alerts will go to everyone you linked to the app, along with a Google Maps link of your exact location.

The Red Panic Button also has the ability to let you call one of your emergency contacts – while sending an alert to every other contact at the same time.

This is no doubt the app that you do not want to go without!

Additional Panic Button Apps To Consider

The first step to being safe and prepared for emergencies is knowing that there are panic button apps available for you to download onto your smartphone.

The second step is finding out what these apps are called and what exactly it is that they do.

Here’s a roundup of the most useful apps:

  • Red Panic Button was covered in the previous section, but it basically alerts the emergency contacts you linked to it, plus sends them a map of your location.
  • Call for Help– The Call for Help app is very similar to the Red Panic Button. It has a help button that you can press when you need help, but it is different because it also sends the alert to all of the Call for Help users that are your area.
  • ICE Contact– ICE stands for In Case of Emergency. This app will allow you to send alerts to your emergency contacts when you are in danger, with your location attached. It even has a feature that allows you to send delayed emergency messages for when you are going on a journey alone. That means it will send out an emergency call if you don’t interact with your phone for a while—for example, if you are out on a hike and got lost without your phone.
  • SirenGPS– The SirenGPS app makes it fast and simple to call 911 with your exact location, which is crucial for emergencies and not always easy for 911 operators to figure out. This app will also alert the authorities on which type of emergency they are will going to, whether it is crime-related, fire, or medical.

These are only a few emergency apps that are available, but they are highly recommended, especially for women that live alone.

They make it easier for police, neighbors, and family to know where you are and get to you quickly.

Safety Apps Should Every Woman Have

Beyond just a panic button apps, there are several apps that every woman living alone should have.

The following are extremely useful apps for those who live alone:

  • Life360- Life360 is an app that shares your location with family or friends who also use the app. You can check their locations anytime you want, and they can check yours. It may seem like an invasion of privacy, but this app could actually save your life in an emergency.
  • Kitestring- Kitestring is a text messaging app that allows you to send a text with a time that you want the app to check on you. If you do not respond when the time is up, an alert will be sent to your contacts. You can even put in a safe word so that no other person can pretend to be you when the app checks up on you.
  • First Aid by American Red Cross- This app does not alert loved ones when there is an emergency, but it can help you get through injuries and emergencies with step-by-step instructions.

Having these apps on your phone ensures that you are prepared for any situation, good or bad.
